People-first
Behind every invoice is a care worker, a patient, or a family. We keep that in mind in every explanation we write.
Our company
We are SozialFactoring GmbH, and this page tells the longer version of how we came to spend our days explaining factoring to the people who run Germany's hospitals, care homes, and outpatient practices. We have tried to keep it honest rather than polished.
Where we started
Our founders met while working on opposite sides of the same problem. One had spent a decade in transaction banking, structuring receivables financing for mid-sized manufacturers. The other had run finance for a regional network of care homes, and had grown tired of watching statutory reimbursements arrive weeks or months later than promised, while wages and supplier invoices did not wait for anyone.
Over a series of long conversations in a converted warehouse near the Rhine, we realised that healthcare providers were rarely given a plain-language explanation of how factoring could smooth out these gaps. Most of what existed was either a sales pitch or a footnote in a banking brochure. We set out to fill that space with something calmer and more thorough.
Our history
A short account of the moments that shaped how we work today.
We registered SozialFactoring GmbH in a small office near the Rheinauhafen, with a single shared goal: make the mechanics of healthcare receivables easier to understand for the people who depend on them.
We began publishing internal briefings comparing billing cycles across statutory insurers, which later became the foundation of the explanations we now share with the providers we speak to.
Conversations that started with hospital finance teams expanded naturally into care homes and outpatient practices, each with its own rhythm of invoicing and reimbursement that we learned to describe on its own terms.
As demand for clearer guidance grew, we brought together specialists in receivables management, healthcare administration, and financial communication under one roof in Köln.
We relocated to our current home in the old harbour district, a fitting setting for a team focused on keeping things moving rather than letting them stall.
We continue to focus on explaining factoring, healthcare finance, and receivables management clearly, without ever processing payments or acting as a lender ourselves.
How we see our role
Behind every invoice is a care worker, a patient, or a family. We keep that in mind in every explanation we write.
We are not tied to a single financing partner. Our explanations describe the landscape, not a single product.
Healthcare finance touches sensitive information. We treat every conversation and case study with discretion.
